Server to Cloud Migration Guide

This page describes a step-by-step guide for migrating EasyMind mind maps from Atlassian Confluence Server to Atlassian Confluence Cloud.

Atlassian’s shift in strategy to become a cloud-first company has accelerated the journey to cloud with next-level offerings. On this journey, it makes sense for customers to start migrating their Atlassian Confluence instances and apps from Server to Cloud (or Data Center).

Our application EasyMind - Mind Maps for Confluence is available for Confluence Server, Data Center, and Cloud. Since Atlassian discontinues the support for its server products in 2024, it may become necessary to migrate to Confluence Cloud (or switch to a Data Center).

At MoroSystems, we are committed to facilitating a smooth transition for all our customers, so we have created this guide to help you migrate your instances and EasyMind app data.

What are the differences between EasyMind Server, Data Center and Cloud versions?

EasyMind for Server

EasyMind for Data Center

EasyMind for Cloud

EasyMind is available on Atlassian Marketplace in three hosting options: Confluence Cloud, Server and Data Center. It is officially approved by Atlassian, that means EasyMind has been thoroughly tested in terms of integration with Confluence Data Center, security, and reliability for users, and has passed all of these tests flawlessly.

What are the differences between these options? Does any option contain more or less features? We have good news! The difference between them is absolutely minimal. Due to the technical possibilities, some UI elements are slightly different, but all options provide the same functionality.

How to migrate to the Cloud?

EasyMind supports a migration path using the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant for users who desire to move from Confluence Server (or Data Center) to Confluence Cloud.

EasyMind mind maps are stored as attachments on the Confluence pages. The mind map templates are stored in the Confluence database using the so-called Bandana Manager.

Your Confluence pages, associated EasyMind attachments and also templates will be automatically migrated to the new Cloud instance. There is no need for any preparation. To successfully migrate, you just need to follow a few simple steps:

  1. Install the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant app on your Confluence Server instance;

  2. Verify that your Confluence Server instance is using EasyMind version 2.9.0 or later

    • If you have an older version of EasyMind, please update to the latest version. If your maintanence has expired, please contact our helpdesk team.

  3. Install the EasyMind - Mind Maps for Confluence Cloud on your Confluence Cloud instance;

    • Verify that your Confluence Cloud instance is using EasyMind version 1.0.11-AC or later

  4. Navigate to Migration Assistant home and complete the form “Assess and Install Apps”;

    • Use the option to migrate the attachments to transfer your EasyMind mind maps. Detailed information is available at this link.

  5. Complete the wizard and the EasyMind data will be migrated.

    • After the migration is complete, you may be prompted to switch to the new editor type in page edit mode. We strongly recommend that you switch your pages to this new editor. This will ensure that the mind maps are displayed correctly.
